Easiest way, possibly, to understand a domain name is to have a look at your email address. Let's see some examples of email address:
Example 1: john23@gmail.com
You notice the "gmail.com" that comes after the '@' symbol? That's a domain name. i.e. "gmail.com" is a domain name.
Example 2: john55@outlook.com.
Here, "outlook.com" is what comes after the "@" symbol. So, "outlook.com" is a domain name.
Example 3: mediarelations@london.ac.uk
Here, "london.ac.uk" is a domain name.
Example 4: dpo@icrc.org.
I suppose, you could already identify the domain name from the above email address.
